Verified Purchase. This is one of the first times I have upgraded successive versions of CorelDraw, but I am glad I did. I have been using CorelDraw Home and Student x6 for over a year and have usually bought every other version since 2.

The limitations of the Home and Student version made it nearly unuseable for me, as I found myself firing up Inkscape and GIMP more and more often for quick edits. At least with it I didn\’t have to worry about how much money I had sunk into software that was too buggy and limited to do what I had come to expect from CorelDraw. With this version, I am once again happy with it and have my workspace set up again just the way I like it.

Still have a few little glitches once in a while, but nothing I can\’t live with. Love some of the little tweaks to the program – like the snap-to changes and some of the other little things you run across that make you go \”they FINALLY fixed that so it works better\” so I am a happy CorelDraw user once again. Since I don\’t use it for commercial projects, I am happy with the price of the Academic version. I really like this software, and over time, will probably appreciate it more as I learn how to do things.

My rating is based on at least two applications from the suite–the draw program and the paint program–that I use. Pros 1. For my work, the paint program is my fave tool. I\’m able to take images that I created in other programs and give them extra oomph by adding over fifty special effects. I loaded an image that looked kinda flat, until I added one of the texture effects. I can spend hours just taking one image and making dozens of fun images in one night.

Even though this is not the full professional version, this draw program has plenty of tools on board to keep you busy if you are a beginner like me. One thing I appreciate with this drawing program over others is that there are some hints and video tutorials directly linked in the software that go over a fraction of the tools. If you select a tool and are not sure how it works, you can turn on the hints tab and go through the steps on how to use the tool.

Based on my web research, there are lots of artist videos who talk about how they use Corel tools. Since X7 has only been out for several months, the number of videos are limited. Of those, most of these videos are probably more useful to those with more experience using computer graphics software.

Even with that, I really appreciate Corel\’s efforts to teach how to use their software. Cons 1. No manual included with the software, but there are plenty of hints, help, and videos. If you have images that don\’t have corel extensions, cannot open directly in the draw program need to import image in draw. You can export these images as jpg, tiff, png and other graphic extensions.

Need more X7 tutorials especially for beginners , but can reference X6 videos if a tool has not changed in the X7 version. Overall, pretty good software and I want to learn more Images in this review. CorelDRAW has come a long way. I\’ve been a user since the late 90\’s. I found it most useful in very \”artsy\” book layouts, and with the layer feature object manager – being creative is easy.

For those who are wondering what. Strange a Graphics program like this can not display a thumbnail of the image??????????????? This would, without a doubt be a five star program, if not for this missing feature.

For those reading this review, you can find on the internet programs that can view these files. I did \”file\” a problem with CorelDraw, they had no solution other than draw and drop. I have gotten this application as a self-prescribed means of cognitive therapy after suffering neurological injury. I\’ve used an older Windows 3 version in the past so I have some familiarity with it\’s operation. This is a complex and powerful tool with a lot of features, so I also ordered the \”Official Guide\”, in print from Amazon, to help me along.

The software has a three hour tutorial as well to provide assistance in getting started. I\’m not sure how this version varies from the full CorelDRAW X7 package, but it still contains a wide range of sub applications that will nicely facilitate any graphic artist or photo editor. I\’ve had good success using the earlier version in my former graphics arts business, and am looking forward to discovering even more features with this updated package. I should make a note at this point that the license agreement prohibits the production of commercial material.
