In this post, we will cover the less common workflow of going from Revit to Sketchup and discuss some recommended techniques and some common errors to watch out for.

On the surface, it can seem fairly simple to export Revit to Sketchup, but here are some techniques that should make your life a little easier before importing to Sketchup. I highly recommend that you draw a set of model lines around your Revit model to use as a reference after imported to Sketchup.

As shown later in this tutorial, it can be difficult to align the multiple models in Sketchup without these lines to snap to. Another technique that can help when exporting Revit to Sketchup is to export multiple models which contain a few model categories rather than one model containing all model categories. Although Sketchup maintains layers for visibility, it is still much easier to manage when individual models contain a common model category.

Now that you have your model prepped, you are ready to export your 3D views as individual model as the next step in transitioning from Revit to Sketchup. In this DWG Export window, you are presented with several options including the option to select multiple views to be exported in batch. Once the relevant views are displayed, simply check the box under the Include column to select the 3D views to be exported from Revit to Sketchup. One important detail that often gets overlooked when transitioning your model from Revit to Sketchup is the DWG file version.

To change this setting, click the Modify Export Setup button. You will then be prompted to save the DWG files. Browse to an appropriate target folder location to save the files. Now that you have successfully exported your CAD files, you are ready to complete the process of converting your model from Revit to Sketchup.

While we haven\’t yet implemented Unifi the trial period is exposing fantastic solutions for every gap that we still have to fill. It\’s really like shopping with Amazon. Our plumbing firm has adopted Unifi as our content solution. We travel often, and Unifi allows us access to our content anywhere in an environment that is user friendly, and productive. We are now hosting all of our groups, and to have a solution that allows us to work faster and more efficiently is just simply icing on the cake!

I was previously using a other content management program and always struggle with content request and searching quickly for content. Unifi is easy to use, powerful, continuously improved, and great for BIM users and managers alike. With fred portable license the license is returned when the user shuts down or times out after 15 minutes if the machine is killed without a proper shutdown you can also force release on the license portal. Then if the machine wide deployment is in place the next user will get a license from the pool automatically. If you have a full VM that is destroyed regularly you would just have to make sure that machine wide license rvit part of the VM image and it should still pick up the license.

As far as the casing, there is a setting in the settings dialog for autodesk revit 2019 release notes free casing; if this is set it will automatically change your gree to all caps, all lower, sentence case, or title case. The idea here is that revut should be set to your office standard and then it will automatically adhere to that.

If you get the latest version and still have the issue please use the bug report in the program to contact us and we will be happy to help find and fix the issue. This is a must have piece of software for Revit. Our office could not work efficiently without it. We rarely have any technical issues but when we do they are very prompt to correct and follow-up to see if the issue is resolved. I highly recommend Keynote Manager and Revolution Design.
